January 2017 reading wrap up

Not a bad start to the year. I have focused on series reading this month and continuing listening to audio books. I did make the mistake of listening to an abridged audio - Split Second - not too bad for abridged but I managed to find the ebook to fill in the blanks.  Unabridged is always much better.

2. City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare (audio read by Ari Graynor) | 4.5 stars
3. Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham (audio - read by Lauren Graham) | 4.5 stars
4. Kiss Me, Annabel (Essex Sisters #2) by Eloisa James | 5 stars
5. Helloween: a collection of horror short stories by Samantha Comb | 4 stars
6. Fairy Dust (Sookie Stackhouse #4.1) (short story) by Charlaine Harris | 4 stars
7. Split Second (Sean King & Michelle Maxwell #1) by David Baldacci (Abridged audio / e-book) | 4 stars
8. Rise of the Blood (Latter-Day Olympians #3) by Lucienne Diver | 5 stars

The January 2016 widget!

What did you read in January?

January reads

In addition to the two books I read and posted about previously, I have one more book to add to January's bundle.

Finding Veronica by Louise Forster.

I reviewed it at Goodreads, but here it is below...

4.5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - the characters were witty and likeable, the Aussie town was quirky, and the mystery of Veronica and the foreign men was a good subplot. I really enjoyed the romance and the banter between Jennifer and Callum, and also the family closeness of Jennifer with her sister and niece. Lots of laugh out loud moments- firemen, bagpipes, and bulls - and some really emotional moments remember the uncle.

I know that there is another book called 'Finding Elizabeth' on the way. Can't wait to read it.

Being an Australian Author, this has gone into the AWW challenge.

~Happy Reading~

January reads - challenges update

Eeek, well I've started off the year with only one book under my belt.

That's Meg Cabot's Insatiable.

This is the first book in the series featuring Meena Harper, dialogue writer for the TV daytime soap, Insatiable. Meena is a nice person who people ignore, even when she tries to let them know how they will die. She's having problems at work and all seems to become rosey when she meets Lucien. But Lucien is more than he seems and her life will never be the same again.

I loved the humour of this book, the poking the fun at vampires and vampire hunters, and the twist and turns of the story. It's the first book of a series, so I'm sure we'll see more of Meena and the love triangle she's found herself in.

So that's one book on the 100+ list, and 1 to Speculative Romance.

Hoping February would be a better month for reading.

How are you going?
