Series reading: Authors beginning with K

It's been a while since I posted about my series reading. I have been trying to read more and finish some off especially ones I had started a while ago. Life though has had other plans.

Kathy Reichs

Temperance Brennan
Genre: Crime

Using her own experience as a real life forensic anthropologist, Kathy Reichs has a series with main character Temperance Brennan. Tempe is not like her character in the TV series, Bones. For one thing, she's older, she's a divorced mother, and she is better with people. She also splits her time between Quebec and North Carolina, though the last book was set in South America.

Up to: #6 - Bare Bones

2016: #5 (audio)

Kaz Delaney

Dead
Genre: YA with paranormal element

This isn't listed as a series, nor given a series name. Set amongst the Gold Coast teenager elite.  Book 1 has teenager Willow is being haunted by a ghost of a classmate. JoJo wants Willow to find out who murdered her. It was full of fun quips, teenage angst and romance, and mystery.  Book 2 will feature Macey, Willow's best friend.

Kelly Meding

Dreg City
Genre: Urban fantasy

A 6-part dark urban fantasy series featuring a resurrected bounty hunter, her hot former boss, and a host of supernatural beings. A great premise where a bounty hunter wakes up in the morgue in another body and doesn't know how she got there. We follow her as she uncovers what happened to her.

Keri Arthur

Dark Angels
Genre: Dark Urban Fantasy with romantic elements

Urban fantasy, spinoff from the Riley Jenson, Guardian series. Risa Jones is all grown up -  born from a lab-enhanced clone werewolf mother  and an Aedh father, she can not only talk to the souls of the dying and the dead, but she can see the reapers and walk the gray fields that divide this world from the next. There's much mayhem in the action packed books.  A great continuation of the Riley Jensen world (who does make brief appearances). Be prepared for American spelling even though it's set in Australia.

Up to: #3 - Darkness Devours

2016: #2

Other Keri series I have on my TBR pile that I haven't started yet are:

Souls of Fire
Genre: Urban fantasy

Up to: #1 - Fireborn

As a déchet—a breed of humanoid super-soldiers almost eradicated by the war—Tiger has spent her life in hiding. But when she risks her life to save a little girl on the outskirts of Central City, she discovers that the child is one of many abducted in broad daylight by a wraith-like being—an impossibility with dangerous implications for everyone on earth.

Because if the light is no longer enough to protect them, nowhere is safe..."

Lizzie Grace
Genre: Urban fantasy

In a world where magic and science sit side by side, and powerful witches are considered necessary aides for all governments, Lizzie Grace is something of an outlier. Though born into one the most powerful blue blood witch families, she wants nothing to do with either her past or her magic.

But when she and Belle, her human familiar and best friend, open a small cafe in the Faelan werewolf reservation, she quickly finds herself enmeshed in the hunt for a vampire intent on wreaking bloody havoc.

It’s a hunt that soon becomes personal, and one that is going to take all her skills to survive–that’s if the werewolves, who hate all things witch, don’t get her first.

Kerrelyn Sparks

Love at Stake
Genre: Paranormal romance

A series where there Roman Draganesti and his allies are fighting on two fronts. As vampires who do not kill for their food, they are fighting against other vampires who don't care for human life. Kerry Greenwood

Phryne Fisher Mysteries

"The Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher is a 1920s London socialite living in Melbourne, Australia (author's country). Stage Dive
Genre: Erotic romance

Rock 'n' roll romances.
Book 1: "Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride"

Up to: #1: Lick

Dive Bar
Genre: Erotic romance

"The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that comes with her.

Lydia Green doesn't know whether to burn down the church or sit and cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it's with his best man is another thing all together. She narrowly escapes tying the knot and meets Vaughan only hours later.

Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessman she thought she'd marry. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and unsettled. But she already tried Mr. Right and discovered he's all wrong-maybe it's time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.

After all, what's wrong with getting dirty?"

2016 - series reading greatness...

I've been offline for the last couple of months, so there's been a delay in my 2016 reading posts. That's right I'm not done with 2016 yet!

These are the series that I continued to read that I really enjoyed. Unless otherwise indicated these were all 5 star reads for me.

A Song of Ice and Fire
by George R.R. Martin

Epic Fantasy

Book 5 - A Dance With Dragons: Part 1 Dreams and Dust
Brilliant. The world building is complex and integrated. The characters are complex and vivid. No wonder they made a show out of this series and they had to par back on some of the details.

I'm currently reading book 5, part 2: After The Feast.

Ghost Hunters
by Jayne Castle

Futuristic romance

Book 2 - After Glow (audio)
The mystery of Lydia's missing time is explained. Adventure, romance, dust bunnies - what more could you want?! This sci-fi romantic suspense series has bee hooked. I'm intrigued by the world of Harmony - there are connected series to explore as world.

Book 0.5 - Bridal Jitters - 4 stars
This is a short story set in Harmony but with a different couple.

Soul Screamers
by Rachel Vincent

YA Paranormal

Book 4 - My Soul To Steal
Book 4.5 - Niederwald (short story)
- 4 stars
Book 5 - If I Die

This series about a teen girl who discovers she's a bean sidhe (banshee) which explains a few things in her life. It continues to have twists and turns and I really like Kaylee. She's a good kid who wants the best for others.

In Death
by J.D. Robb

Futuristic crime (with romantic elements)

Book 5 - Ceremony in Death

Eve Dallas continues to work in homicides with danger around every corner. This time she looks into a cult. Her relationship with Roarke continues to grow strong and their understanding of each other is what the other needs.

Walker Papers
by C.E. Murphy

Urban Fantasy (with romantic elements)

Book 6 - Spirit Dances

The weird supernatural happenings continues to follow Joanne Walker around, starting with a dance actually turning her into a coyote. More fun and games leaves Joanne with more questions about her mother. There's the continual attraction with her boss which seems to get stronger despite themselves.

Retrievers
by Laura Anne Gilman

Urban Fantasy (with romantic elements)

Book 3 - Bring It On
Book 4 - Burning Bridges
I did make an error and read book 4 before book 3 somehow missing the fact there was a book 3 (the books aren't numbered so it's easy to do - truly *wink*)

The series continues with lone-jack Wren using her talents with manipulating electricity to retrieve items for clients. She's now in a relationship with her business partner, which gets complicated when his past comes to haunt them. She's also getting caught up in the world of the Fatae and councils, which is totally against the lone-jack way. I feel it's getting better with each passing book.

Freefall (book 5) is on my currently reading list.

Dark Angels
by Keri Arthur

Urban Fantasy (with romantic elements)

Book 2 - Darkness Rising
Urban fantasy, spinoff from the Riley Jenson, Guardian series. This story is about Risa Jones - the hybrid werewolf (who can't change into the wolf form) and Aedh (spirit creature) and she's all grown up. The gang from Riley Jenson makes an appearance but it's the Risa show all the way staring a aedh lover and gorgeous reaper. She's smart, sassy, fun but has a lot of sadness in this book.

The Four-Sided Pentacle
by Denise Rossetti

Fantasy romance

Book 3 - The Lone Warrior
"Some are drawn to the light. Some are drawn to the dark. Some desire both." In the world of the four sided pentacle, dark forces want to envelop the world in darkness and full of pain.  The series follows those who try and follow a path of light and have power over elements which can stop these forces.

Currently reading book 1.5 (novella set in this world) Rubies and Black Velvet

Allegra Fairweather Mysteries
by Janni Nell

Paranormal detective tales with romantic elements

Book 2: South of Salem
Allegra is a paranormal investigator, though her family thinks she's crazy. Until they need her help with some mysterious sleep walking occurrences. With the help of  her gorgeous guardian angel, Casper, she tackles a paranormal entity bent on taking lives.  Full of sass, intrigue and a hint of romance.

Riley Jensen Guardian series

Book 9 and series finale
I have finally reached the end of this series and boy what an ending. I shall not spoil it for others, but let me say I was totally satisfied with where Riley ended up. I had a big goofy grin on my face.

Oh come on, you don't think she deserves a happy ending after the hell she was put through for 9 books.

I loved the growth of Riley's character and the change in her outlook in life. She had some crazy adventures, battles some evil characters, and proved she was a survivor.

Thanks to Keri Arthur for such a great series and I loved it more with each book, the last couple were absolute doozies.

If you haven't read these books and you enjoy dark urban fantasy with werewolves, vampires, a kick butt heroine, a gorgeous vampire (sigh, Quinn), action, intrigue, lust, love, betrayal and everything in between, then go ahead an read Riley's story.

Riley Jensen Guardian books (UK/Australian covers):

I must admit the model in Deadly Desire and Bound to Shadows is more how I pictured Riley.

Happy Reading!!

Moon Sworn...

Moon Sworn is here, Moon Sworn is here!!!

This is the final installment to the Riley Jensen Guardian series. I'm am so looking forward to reading it.

And since Keri Arthur is my author of the moment, and I haven't started anything else since reading Bound to Shadows, this is perfect timing.

February reads

I'm definitely behind with my reading blogging.

Here is what I read this month.

Walking Dead by C.E. Murphy - Urban Fantasy
A thoroughly enjoyable read. I'm finding Joanne's journey is getting better and better. I love her wit and sarcasm, and that despite that when she's scared, she can scream like a little girl. LOL. And her relationship with Morrison & the other characters (Gary, Billy, Mel) is wonderful. Can't wait for book 5!

Executive Mother-To-Be -by Nicola Marsh - Harlequin Romance
Thoroughly enjoyed

Hot Boss, Wicked Nights by Anne Oliver - HM&B Sexy Sensation
Phew, what a wickedly sensational book. Damon and Kate certainly steam up the pages, and fall in love in the process.

Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur - Dark Urban Fantasy
Oh this one was a real goodie to read. Investigation, passion, attraction....& more. Two more books in the series to go. Can't wait to see how this story goes...

The Greek Boss's Demand by Trish Morey - Harlequin Presents
This has been on my TBR pile for years!! I've read some of Trish's later work but not the book that started it all. Finally read and enjoyed.

Drawing Faces by Rosie Dickins and Jan McCafferty - Non-Fiction - Children's

An introduction to drawing faces for children or those wanting to go back to basics. Great overview.

Iron Soldiers: a story of arms & armour by Dave Luckett - Non-Fiction - Children's
Told from the POV of a blacksmith's business changing over time in regards to armour and how it was made. Interesting.

So that's it for February.

I'm still reading 'Sizzle, Seduce & Simmer' for my reward book and it's making me hungry (cooking is a big part of the stories).

Welcome to my reading blog!!
